Lilya Kalaus is the managing editor and author of the Alaguide app.
She was born in 1969 in Almaty and graduated from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University with a major in Philology and Linguistics. She is a philologist, writer, blogger, literary editor, playwright, radio host and creative writing teacher.
Lilya was the Editor in Chief of the magazine Knigolub (Booklover) from 2001 to 2014.
She is also a laureate of the Soros-Kazakhstan-Debut Prize (1996) and the Third Open Book forum and literary festival of Central Asia (2014). She is a member of the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan and an author of many books, stories and articles.
Alexandra Prochshenko is a Toronto coordinator and a marketing manager of the Alaguide app.
She is a Kazakhstani-born poet/writer based in Toronto. She is a media manager of the Common Readings literary reading series, and she was a participant in many poetry readings in Almaty and Astana, Kazakhstan, from 2010 to 2014. Alexandra received her BA in Professional Writing (Book Publishing branch) from York University in 2019.
She currently works as a Digital Marketing Strategist at Interdev Technologies.
